Baker Engineering, Inc., an engineering unit of Michael Baker Corporation, has been awarded a bridge inspection contract by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). The seven-month contract requires independent condition inspections for two truss bridges and one plate girder bridge spanning the Illinois River near Peru, Illinois. Baker was selected as part of IDOT’s Quality Assurance Program to verify the safety of these long-span bridges.
Baker’s Project Manager Kent Zinn, P.E., S.E. said, “We are pleased to have received this important contract award and look forward to working with IDOT to complete the bridge assessments. Baker’s history of complex bridge inspection and the role we play in delivering the Federal Highway Administration’s national bridge inspection training program will serve this project well to ensure the safety of the traveling public and to support the sustainability of this critical infrastructure.”
