EESTECH Inc. and AGL Energy Limited have signed an MOU to establish a demonstration project using EESTECH’s patented Hybrid Coalmine Gas Technology (HCGT).
HCGT utilizes ventilated coalmine methane gas that would otherwise be vented to the atmosphere, as a fuel source to generate reliable, cost-effective and cleaner forms of energy.
Methane gas has a global warming potential that is 21 times more damaging to the atmosphere than carbon dioxide. EESTECH’s HCGT will destroy waste coalmine methane, delivering significant environmental benefits.
A standard configuration HCGT will generate cost-effective clean coal energy, reduce the carbon signature of coalmines and produce significant carbon abatement credits.
EESTECH CEO Mr. Murray Bailey said, “We are very pleased to have signed the MOU with AGL. The establishment of a commercial agreement with AGL provides a significant commercial opportunity and will help EESTECH introduce the HCGT to the Australian coal industry.”
EESTECH believes its HCGT will provide AGL, which has implemented co-generation facilities for some of its major customers, with a platform to develop further project opportunities.
The HCGT platform has the capacity to utilize other fuels such as Bio Waste to provide clean energy alternatives.
EESTECH (EESH.OB), which is publicly traded on the US Bulletin Board and operates a technical facility in Brisbane, Australia, also obtained the Asia-Pacific rights to the HTC Purenergy Carbon Capture technology in December 2007.
