Huaneng Power International, Inc. Unit 6 of Shangan Power Plant Commenced Commercial Operation

Huaneng Power International, Inc. announced that a 600MW supercritical air-cooling coal-fired generating unit (Unit 6) of the Phase III Project at Huaneng Shangan Power Plant, which is wholly owned by the Company, has obtained the approvals from the relevant authorities recently and commenced commercial operation on 1 August 2008. To date, the Company’s total generation capacity on an equity basis has increased from 36,993MW to 37,593MW.

Huaneng Power International, Inc. has a total generation capacity of 37,593MW on an equity basis and a controlling installed generation capacity of 40,989MW. The Company wholly owns sixteen operating power plants, an operating power company, and has controlling interests in thirteen operating power companies and minority interests in five operating power companies. Currently, it is one of the largest listed power producers in China.
