Petroplus Announces an Incident at its Ingolstadt Refinery

Petroplus Holdings AG announced that an incident occurred at its Ingolstadt refinery. At approximately 23:15 Central European Time (CET) yesterday, a fire occurred at a reflux pump associated with the crude oil unit. Refinery and local emergency response teams responded to the incident and the fire was immediately brought under control and extinguished in about an hour. There were no injuries or reported offsite environmental impacts. There was no damage to the refineries processing units and selected units were safely shutdown. The damage to the affected pump is being determined and the refinery is expected to begin full start-up by the beginning of next week. The repair costs are expected to be minimal.

Petroplus focuses on refining and currently owns and operates seven refineries across Europe: the Coryton refinery on the Thames Estuary in the United Kingdom, the Ingolstadt refinery in Ingolstadt, Germany, the Belgium Refining Company refinery in Antwerp, Belgium, the Petit Couronne refinery in Petit Couronne, France, the Cressier refinery in the canton of Neuchâtel, Switzerland, the Reichstett refinery in Alsace, France and the Teesside refinery in Teesside, United Kingdom. The refineries have a combined throughput capacity of approximately 864,000 barrels per day.
