The American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) and Euromoney Energy Events are pleased to announce the first annual Renewable Energy Finance Forum (REFF) – West, on Oct. 27-28, 2008 at the Grand Hyatt Seattle. The two-day event invites attendees to network with renewable technology venture capitalists, join interactive conference sessions and explore renewable energy technologies. Attendees will hear what renewable energy leaders are saying about the recent economic crisis and its effects on the industry.
“The renewable energy industry has made tremendous strides in the past several years establishing legitimacy, but many challenges still remain,” said Michael Eckhart, president of ACORE. “The REFF-West conference brings together all of the necessary stakeholders — policymakers, financiers, NGOs and renewable energy companies — to push the next stage of growth for the industry.”
REFF-West has attracted an elite panel of speakers and panelists representing key sectors of the renewable energy industry in the western U.S., including solar, biofuels, geothermal, Green IT and venture capitalist. U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell, who introduced the Clean EDGE Act to reduce 40 percent of America’s projected petroleum imports by 2020, will keynote the event. Dan Reicher, Google’s Director of Climate Change & Environmental Initiatives, will discuss Google’s recently announced Clean Energy 2030 U.S. energy proposal. Other speakers include Nancy Floyd founder of Nth Power, Kostya Zolotusky of Boeing Capital, Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels and Eric Markell of Puget Sound Energy. These leaders and other industry luminaries will present the latest trends in the renewable energy industry:
— Emerging venture capital opportunities

— Carbon finance policies effecting the renewable energy sector
— Emerging technologies in green building, energy efficiency, smart grid and transmission
