As the cold winds of winter start to sweep in, U.S. Energy Savings Corp. announced that it is donating $15,000 to The Salvation Army Share the Warmth program. The program provides assistance to thousands of eligible gas consumers. The program originally started in 1983 and is one of the largest of its kind in the nation.

“This generous donation from U.S. Energy Savings Corp. goes a long way toward helping us fulfill our mission to help some of our neediest neighbors stay warm this winter,” said Lt. Colonel David E. Grindle, Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army Metropolitan Division.

According to The Salvation Army, the donation will allow for approximately 75 additional families to receive help with their heating costs. In total, more than 10,000 families benefit from the Energy Assistance Program throughout the Chicago area, Northern Illinois and Northwestern Indiana.

“Thanks to the tireless efforts of The Salvation Army, many of the Chicago area’s residents in need will be able to keep the heat on during what is expected to be a very harsh winter. We are proud to support The Salvation Army’s efforts to make and keep Chicago area residents warm over the cold months,” said Ken Hartwick, Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Savings Group, parent of U.S. Energy Savings Corp.

U.S. Energy Savings Corp. is a member of the Energy Savings Group, one of North America’s leading electricity and natural gas retailers with offices in Illinois, Indiana, New York and Texas in the U.S. and Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec in Canada. Through its affiliates and its parent, Energy Savings Income Fund, a publicly traded Income Trust (TSX: SIF.UN), U.S. Energy Savings Corp. provides over one million residential, small to mid-sized commercial and small industrial customers with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that they are protected from energy price volatility.
