Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, the premier provider of legal services to technology, life sciences, and growth enterprises worldwide, today announced that Todd G. Glass has joined the firm as a partner in its clean technology and renewable energy practice. Formerly the chair of Heller Ehrman’s energy practice and co-chair of its energy and clean technology practice, Glass has substantial experience representing project developers, utilities, and financiers on energy-related matters. He will split his time between Wilson Sonsini’s Seattle, San Francisco, and Palo Alto offices.
“The firm’s clean technology practice has experienced tremendous growth in the past couple of yeas, and as the clean tech industry matures, our clients have been asking for additional expertise,” said CEO John Roos. “This includes the ability to represent clients in their dealings with regulated electric utilities, their primary customers. With his vast experience and knowledge in this sphere, Todd is the perfect fit to meet this important need and strengthen our existing capabilities. We are pleased to welcome him to the firm and are confident that he will help us become the leading law practice serving clean tech companies from inception through maturity.”
Glass represents project developers, financiers, and utilities on such matters as the development, purchase, and sale of renewable and thermal generation projects, the structuring and implementation of transactions and financing, and the state and federal regulation of the electric industry. He has a particular focus on the development and financing of utility-scale alternative energy projects — including those involving solar, wind, clean coal, biomass, and hydro power — and served as lead counsel on the largest solar photovoltaic and concentrated solar projects in the U.S. In addition, Glass works on the development and commercialization of new emerging energy and clean technologies in the U.S., China, and Europe, advising companies on a variety of commercial and venture financings matters, as well as venture finance firms in the investigation and funding of clean technology companies.
Prior to joining Heller Ehrman, Glass worked on energy policy with the Bonneville Power Administration and the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission. He earned his J.D. from Lewis & Clark College in 1994, holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Washington, and graduated from Cornell University, magna cum laude, in 1988.
