Worldwide Energy and Manufacturing USA, Inc., a U.S.-based China engineering and manufacturing company specializing in photovoltaic module technology and international contract manufacturing for products in the solar energy, aerospace, wireless telecommunications, medical equipment and automotive industries, today announced the establishment of a new solar module production and R&D facility. Worldwide Energy and Manufacturing has leased a 128,000-square-foot facility in Ningbo, China. This facility will house the company’s research center and part of its photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing operations.
The city of Ningbo is about two hours and 15 minutes away from downtown Shanghai. The capacity of the factory is 60 to 80 megawatts per year. Based on current market prices for solar modules 60 to 80 megawatts equates to approximately US$225 million to $300 million in potential revenues per year.
Worldwide Energy’s CEO, Jimmy Wang, commented: “This facility will help us achieve better profit margins in our solar business as well as offer us more control over the production of our modules. In addition, we will have an R&D department that will serve to continue to explore new technology in the industry as well as enhance and develop our solar modules. This facility will help us become a much larger player in the industry and solidify our market position.”
Worldwide Energy recently announced that its solar division, AmeriSolar, has signed approximately $38 million in new contracts this year, the majority of which are expected to be recorded during the 2008 calendar year. “With the new factory efficiency, we expect gross profit margins for this division will improve substantially,” said Jimmy Wang.
